I realize before I go further into making hacks I need get better at
unpacking, cracking, keygens so I would read and understand functions better and could do my own stuff..

while there are many unpacking tutorials in tuts4you for example they mostly focus on specific version like

asprotect V1.X.X
vmprotect V2.X.X

will I get better at unpacking by following such tutorials? I mean what happens when new version comes out of any packer

I need to be able to unpack something without guidence so I want to know where should I get started?

and whats the "road" to be good at unpacking/cracking etc etc?

You should learn everything you can about Portable Executable File Format, how the Windows Loader handles the PE file, specifically how the relocations occur

Find unpackme tutorials that supply the packed file, that way the tutorial will apply to the exact version of the packed file

https://guidedhacking.com/threads/beginners-guide-to-reverse-engineering-tutorial.13446/

tons of unpacking tuts on this channel

lets say I followed 10 tutorials/100 tutorials lets talk about the long game

what happens if I stumble upon a file with no documentation about how to unpack it.. will the experience I gained would help me unpack it? I mean the problem with specific unpacking guides is that I am afraid
I would be fixed to those specific packers and it will not help me unpack anything I want in general?

I'm not sure about that :). I don't think unpacking will help you much in game hacking.

Hmm I think no. If you're newbie and you want to learn unpacking, I recommend you to choose some easy packers like UPX to understand how it work. Then move to harder packer like PESpin or Yoda Protector. Finally you can move on Themida or VmProtect :)
Good luck!

Yes and it will take you many months or years of practice to be good at reverse engineering, your capability will depend on your experience
